Updates will be delayed for a few days, at least

I just haven't either had the motivation, or the muse to write, or both lately.  So there hasn't been any updates.

Programming is much more my forte, and sometimes I just don't have anything to write, and can't just force it out.

Hopefully I'll get some more there soon, but since it's been a while with nothing, I thought I'd give a heads up.

  • Gosh. A lot of people reading these but no one posts much. :x

Sorry there still hasn't been a big update. I was sick for a few days, watching EVO, and still had a lot of writers block.

I have added a TINY bit here and there, and polished up some other parts. I have some things in mind, but I just can't get the words down. Programming is more my forte and not writing, after all.
But yeah, I haven't been rushing as well. Trying to take it easy since I'll be crunching if the next kickstarter is successful.
  • For some reason the Register button at the Comment box was not working. Easily solved by clicking on Login then making an account though.
As for writer's block, have you ever considered asking for help? You can give them a basic outline/idea of a new character, action, scene, etc. and the person can draft it out. You can then change it from there and make it to your liking. If too many people want to help (the game is growing rather popular), then you can have them give you an example of the type of writing they can do.
  • Well, it's troublesome to edit people's writing to take into account the writing parser.

When I have funding and all I'll be looking for writers, and then I can teach them, but at this point it can be a bit of a hassle.  It's especially a problem since there aren't many that'd volunteer to help at this point, and of those they just might not be suited.

Two friends helped me out initially, but most of their writing wasn't liked as much, so I figured it best to do it myself for now.
  • Most of the writers' work would be more along the line of just all the text which usually describe the action sequences rather than things such as combat and permanent changes to the character (clothes removal, etc.) I presume? So mainly things like having sex with the girl or the merchant. So you can just tell them the whole thing about using (if gender==male){...} and then typing a whole different description for each of the (currently) 4 possible scenarios that could work. Since I'm not too well acquainted with programming, I have a feeling that I missed the problem that you were trying to state in the previous post.

So as with the past, having 1 or 2 writers are enough. It's just the matter of finding them and their writing style. You can just give them one of the existing Event in the game right now and ask them to write a brand new description for it. Or you can throw out one of your newer ideas at them and see how they do. If anything, you can make a contest out of it on the forum and let people vote on which one they like the most (although I see no upvote and downvote function at the moment).

So yeah, just throwing out some ideas. If anything you can even ask for artists and map designers but that's a whole different thing so I'm not gonna talk about that.
  • Well are you actually interested? You can PM me on here.
http://forum.playlewd.com/index.php?p=/messages/add/Sadako I'd want some sort of sample, though~ Big problem I had with others that helped is it was too mechanical, like reading wikipedia or something. Something being easy to read and actually invoking some feeling is important.

I already have tools made for writing, though there are some unusual/odd things about them since they're more alpha than the rest of things.

I have mostly been taking a break, as I don't feel there is a rush at the moment. I'm going to be working like 14 hours a day on it when it's kickstarted, so I need some relaxation beforehand. I haven't played video games much since Febuary, so I've been getting some gaming in~

I do have a number of things planned, I just haven't gotten around to them.
  • Ah yes, work overload. Yeah, if you were working 14 hours a day then yes you should probably get a break and play some games to relax. Hopefully more people will come and help you when the next kickstarter comes up.
  • Well yeah, that's what I figured. It's not just the funding, but it'd help get quick exposure for people that might be interested in working on it.
