Having issues making a character

First logged into the game just before server went down a day or two ago, and got booted when it went down. When I logged back in and tried to make a character, it says my character name is "false" and won't let me change anything (stat values, etc.). I can still play the game, somewhat, but sometimes it seems to hang. I think it hangs when the game tries to check the stats, but I don't know for sure.

I am having the same problem, but I only joined the game after the server went down. I also don't ever receive items (my inventory is always empty no matter what). 

The problem happens whether I use safari or chrome.
